This news means that Log Cabin Home customers can now have world-class, energy efficient “Certified Green” windows in their homes and cabins.
We are proud of this new opportunity to be the first to offer the 100 Series window” said Tom Vesce, President of Log Cabin Homes. He went on to say “This underscores our continued commitment to providing more green building product choices to all our customers.”
Andersen 100 Series windows are made from patented Fibrex material that is a highly sustainable structural composite that blends the best attributes of sawdust and vinyl polymer – much of it reclaimed directly from the company’s manufacturing plant operations. It combines the strength and stability of wood with the low maintenance features of vinyl. Independent testing has found that the material has a low thermal expansion and contraction rate, is resistant to rotting and termites and retains its rigidity and stability in high temperatures.
Reclaimed material is an important component in the construction of the 100 Series windows. Fibrex material features more then 43 percent pre-consumer recycled content, and the glass used in the 100 series windows contains more then 12 percent recycled cullet.
Fibrex material is durable, long lasting and can be reclaimed to make new windows, and the window products are protected by minimal packaging to help reduce cardboard usage, jobsite waste, and shipping costs.
As “Certified Green” manufacturers, Log Cabin Homes and Andersen Corporation are committed to using wood from sources certified by the Forestry Stewardship Council, Sustainable Forestry Initiative or similar organizations.
“Our relationship with Andersen goes back to the founding of the company, allowing us to offer the brand rated as highest quality and used most often by professional builders” said Log Cabin Homes Sales Director Stephen Brumfield
All reasons why Log Cabin Homes and Andersen are among the most trusted brands in the building industry today.

Delta Waterfowl Partners with Original Log Cabin Homes
Bismarck, North Dakota. 2.19.10
Bismarck, N.D.—Delta Waterfowl is pleased to announce its new partnership with Rocky Mount, North Carolina-based Original Log Cabin Homes as The Official Log Home Of Delta Waterfowl.
Founded by New Yorker Tom Vesce in 1987, Original Log Cabin Homes combines tradition and cutting-edge technology to design and manufacture log cabins to suit any lifestyle.
“In 1973, Tom started one of the first log home companies when log home living became an industry in the United States. Tom sold out in the early 1980s and sub-sequently moved to North Carolina,” said Steve Brumfield, director of marketing for Original Log Cabin Homes. “He started up again in 1987, and we’re now selling and shipping homes worldwide, to over 80 countries.”

Delta Waterfowl Regional Director, Jason Wallace (Center), Presents a plaque designating Log Cabin Homes as The Official Log Home of Delta Waterfowl to Tom Vesce, President (Left) and Stephen Brumfield, National Sales Director (Right). |
As part of the partnership, any Delta Waterfowl member who purchases a log home or cabin, the company will give back one percent of that sale to help fund Delta Waterfowl’s conservation programming. The partnership will also include a sportsman’s sweepstakes in 2010 in which a Delta Waterfowl member will have an opportunity to win an Original Log Cabin Home.
According to Brumfield, the company's buffalo farm, located in Nashville, NC is recognized by the National Wildlife Federation as an official Certified Wildlife Habitat site that routinely attracts birds, butterflies, deer, fox, numerous bird species and other wild critters. In short, the site provides a great home for wildlife.
In that tradition, the employees of Log Cabin Homes with joint efforts of the local North Carolina Delta Waterfowl chapter will help make two lakes on the company’s property (commonly called Twin Lakes) more attractive to waterfowl, by erecting wood duck boxes and mallard hen houses, designed by Delta Waterfowl. These largely predator-proof artificial nesting structures have had great success attracting ducks, while also helping to increase the local breeding population.
“We’re hoping to create a better habitat for ducks,” said Brumfield. “That’s our goal.”
Original Log Cabin Homes also has a long history of working with the Boys and Girls Scouts and other groups like the Make-A-Wish Foundation that grant wishes for children with life-threatening illnesses, said Brumfield.
“We are very excited about our new partnership,” said Delta Senior Vice President John Devney. “Original Log Cabin Homes has a long history of environmental stewardship, and that will continue with our collaboration.”

in Builder Friendly Practices & Services.
ROCKY MOUNT, North Carolina 6.16.09
At Chef Pietro Merendino’s Mama’s, the restaurante made famous in the book “In America Si Fa Cosi” (In America you do it this way), the crowd was thick & loud and the music all Italian. This haunt of Log Cabin staffers has hosted many celebrations but this one was very special.
Industry leader, Log Cabin Homes Ltd. was being recognized by the most prominent publication in the log and timber home industry, Log Home Living, for being the first company to receive the prestigious “Log Home Living Builder Friendly Award.”

Builder Friendly Award at the awards banquet in Rocky Mount, NC. |
“The Award Clearly Recognizes the Fact that...
We’ve Got What It Takes To Do It!”
- Tom Vesce
|
“To be considered for the ‘Builder Friendly’ award, a log and timber home manufacturing company has to meet a rigorous list of requirements—more than 20 categories of business development, collateral material and training,” says Joe Varda, Vice President of Log Home Living. “I’m proud to announce that Original Log Cabin Homes is the first in the log & timber home industry to not only meet but surpass these requirements. With the Builder Friendly designation, clients can rest assured that the relationship between Log Cabin Homes and builders and developers will be comprehensive, detailed—and above all—professional.”
After several too many Sicilian expresso coffees. Log Cabin President, Tom Vesce interrupted saying, “The solid foundation of the company cornerstoned with our large industry experienced staff is the real reason why we are recognized today.” He went on to say, “The award clearly recognizes the fact that we’ve got what it takes to do it!”
More people live in log & timber homes in the United States than ever before—more than half a million and counting. The log & timber home market constructs more than$4 billion worth of homes each year, according to the Log Home Living Institute. Because, among other things, these elegant residences offer a connection to nature and to our American heritage that no stick frame home can duplicate, Baby Boomers in record numbers are lining up for these rustic palaces.
But the industry has far more interested buyers than it does builders and developers to construct the homes. Builders and Developers interested in serving this niche market but don’t know where to start, can turn to Original Log Cabin Homes headquartered in Rocky Mount, NC. Because the company offers a comprehensive construction manual, builder training and a host of other services, it has received the “Builder Friendly” award from Log Home Living Magazine, the pre-eminent nationwide consumer publication that profiles innovative log & timber homes and companies.
The Builder Friendly designation means a log & timber home company offers architectural design & engineering services, log grading, a third-party quality assurance program, a comprehensive construction manual, construction training, a certified and dedicated customer service staff, written life-time warranty, on-site construction assistance, construction drawings, manufacturing & delivery capabilities, as well as having a written policy detailing the costs of design services and a host of other support services.

Roadside Nostalgia - He Cast a Giant Shadow
- ROCKY MOUNT, North Carolina (6.1.06) Read More
Towering over Interstate 95 some 40 feet high stands Paul Bunyan adjacent to Old Glory waving in the breeze at The Log Cabin Homes sales center at Goldrock exit 145 in Rocky Mount, NC greeting drivers along the highway.
The name Muffler Man comes from a small (now defunct) muffler chain that ordered and used a large quantity of the statues as part of its outdoor advertising. Actually the very first “Muffler Man” was an axe wielding Paul Bunyan statue for the Paul Bunyan Café in Flagstaff, Arizona in 1962. Soon after that, the muffler chain rolled out the use of the statues with a large muffler in the cast hands rather then an axe.
After that, slight modifications to the fiberglass mold produced statues of cowboys, indians, tire men, and other characters most with the same odd hand position – right palm up, left palm down.
To roadologists, all of these statues collectively are known as Muffler Men. Last produced in the early 1970s, the legendary Muffler Men have become part of America’s roadside nostalgia.
This icon even merits its own Muffler Men home page on a number of websites and publications including RoadsideAmerica.com; where people can view and report sightings, share true tales, and view picture galleries of the different variations of Muffler Men. There even is a tracking chart and map of the United States that shows all locations state by state of roadside Muffler Men.
This Muffler Man version, Paul Bunyan; is now being used by Log Cabin Homes for its current advertising and promotion campaign. Log Cabin President, Tom Vesce said “The company has already been bombarded by Muffler Men aficionados for site visitations and picture taking alongside Paul Bunyan”. He went on to say “this statue became a roadside attraction at our Log Cabin sales center the day it was erected”.
Competitors’ reaction to the erected statue has ranged from brilliant to charges of idolization on the part of Vesce.
When confronted with the fact that the statue has an uncanny resemblance to himself; Vesce laughed and simply said”when in Rome do as the Romans do”. However someone needs to tell him that Rocky Mount is not Rome.

Haggerty is best know for his portrayal of the historical figure Grizzly Adams in the television and movie series, "The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams", which aired during the seventies and eighties. After lunch, Grau gave a personal tour showcasing the splendor, style and elegance of The Mar-a-Lago Club. Tom Vesce, founder and president of Log Cabin Homes Ltd. said, "We're excited about Dan joining our team. His portrayal of Grizzly Adams truly depicts the lifestyle of Americana that we desire for our worldwide marketing and sales efforts." Haggerty, a renowned outdoorsman and log cabin enthusiast, will use his "Mar-a-Lago" inspiration to assist the creative team at Log Cabin Homes in the launch of a rustic, elegant line of "Grizzly Adams" -- style log homes and cabins.
Log homes were a major part of the habitation of the United States. The majority of the original settlers and western pioneers built them as homes. Grizzly Adams built and lived in the quintessential log cabin, as the series was set in the nineteenth century. Log cabins, today, are far more than the little prairie or mountain cabins of our forefathers. They can be seen from coast to coast in many different sizes and in all types of environments. Surprising to many people, is that they can be seen from continent to continent as well. Grizzly Adams, and his image, is also recognized around the world.
The focus of Log Cabin Homes' new relationship with Haggerty is to solidify an emblematic, Americana line of homes for the US and abroad. Indeed, Log Cabin Homes Ltd., with multiple facilities in North Carolina, Florida and Connecticut, knows the world market. It exports its log homes and cabins to over 65 countries in 5 continents.
